Ardashes "Ardy" Kassakhian
Ardashes "Ardy" Kassakhian, was appointed by the Senate Rules Committee in March 2018. He is the Chair of the Administration Committee and a member of the Board Development Committee.
Mr. Kassakhian is an elected member of the City Council for the City of Glendale, CA in Los Angeles County and previously served as the elected City Clerk from 2005 to 2020. During his tenure as City Clerk, Kassakhian spearheaded his department's modernization efforts and the citywide outreach to Glendale's diverse voting populations through multilingual education programs. He is a Certified Municipal Clerk and a member of the International Institute of Municipal Clerks serving on its Diversity Policy Taskforce and on the City Clerks Association of California's Legislative Committee. Prior to his service in elected offices, Kassakhian worked in public affairs and public relations in the private sector and specialized in government relations and community organizing. He served as the Government Relations Director and Executive Director of the Armenian National Committee — Western Region. Kassakhian is an adjunct instructor of Political Science at Glendale Community College where he teaches a course on federal, state and local government.
Kassakhian holds a BA from UCLA and an MA in Public Policy & Administration from Northwestern University. Kassakhian is an alumnus of Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government Executive Program for State & Local Officials and the Coro Public Affairs Executive Fellowship. He sits on the Glendale YMCA Board and former Board member of Glendale Character and Ethics Project, Friends of the Glendale Public Library, and Co-Chair of the Glendale Youth Leadership Conference.
His term expires on January 15, 2022.
